One of the people I was best friends with when I was like 10 has a sister in the same grade as my sister, so our moms ran into each other at an awards ceremony tonight.

My mom asked how the girl was doing. And she’s like an extremist born-again Christian. Apparently she went to a super conservative Bible college and has been spending all of her summers doing Christian “missionary work” in Trinidad. And I just went on her facebook and even though most of it is private there are numerous bible quotes and her political views just say “THE LORDS WORK. I FIGHT FOR LIFE.”

Her mom asked what I’ve been up to, and my mom just laughed and excused herself.

What mom, I can’t understand why you wouldn’t want to respond with “well he’s a gay man now, with no religious affiliation, and is a radical transgender anti-capitalist anarchist-y activist and organizer with an arrest history and remarkable rage problems against basically most heterosexuals and all pro-lifers and is currently looking for jobs in leftist feminist queer and trans activism in the city and he stands against pretty much everything you love”

I have been very sad for very long and I’m still pretty deeply sad about some things, but things are really getting better now and I can be happy anyway.

Tomorrow I leave for Florida, I get back Tuesday and spend some time (including my birthday) with my family, and then depart on the next great adventure - farming, hiking, backpacking Ireland with a good friend in search of some good mental health that I haven’t really felt since the last time I was in Ireland.

When I get back, I just need to find someone to pay me money to do things in NYC.

It’s gonna be good. Everything will be good.

I wish I could make a tumblr post and filter through who was allowed to see it and who isn’t on an individual basis. Or if I could just talk to someone about my problems who hasn’t been patiently listening to me whine about the same problems every day for years.

But if this one thing is so bad and is causing me so much pain, it’s okay, because everything else is so good, and maybe that’s why

And also, I know what the right decision is. I know what I have to do. Literally words do not exist in any language to express how much I hate myself though.
